Standing Stone Trail, Huntingdon County Sierra Otzinachson Group Hike
On Saturday, May 9th, Dan Glass led the always enthusiastic Sierra Otzinachson Club on a group hike (open to all) for 8.9 miles along the northern section of the Standing Stone Trail. Despite the rocky footpath, this was a very rewarding ridge top hike showcasing some of the highlights on the SST from Allensville Road to Greenwood Furnace State Park. The SST is well known for having some of the finest views in the state, and this hike treated participants to numerous outstanding vistas along the way including Stone Valley Vista, Olsen’s View, Hidden Vista, Power View, Nick’s Notch, Pyramid Pile, Willie’s Window, the Wall, Sausser’s Stone Pile, and Stone Mountain Hawk Watch. Another successful event and must do hike on the SST. Be sure to check this section out, and look for future group hike postings on our website and facebook page.
